Name: Lori Williams
Your Organization’s Name: USA Mortgage
What did you want to be when you were a child?
I wanted to work in the hospitality industry. We went to Tan-Tar-A at the Lake of the Ozarks every summer when I was a kid. When we got home, my brother and I would play in the basement and pretend we worked as the shuttle drivers. 🙂
What called you to your work?
I came into my career haphazardly. I was 23 and answered an ad in the paper (yes, that used to be the way to get a job). 😉 It was an admin position for a gentleman who owned a mortgage company. I worked my way up and became his assistant and then decided I wanted to become a loan officer. Grateful to him for giving me a chance! Just celebrated 20 years in January!
Who in the community do you look up to? Do you have a role model?
There are too many people to count who I view as role models in this community. A good portion of them are a part of this amazing organization. Blessed to know and work alongside each and every one of them!
Do you have a personal or professional motto?
- Honesty is the best policy.
- Deliver news (good or bad) right away…peel the Band-Aid off quick.
Name your greatest success, or what you are most proud of, in your business experiences.
40% of my business every year comes from my past clients. That can be them coming to me more than once or referring me to their family and friends. It’s the greatest compliment I can receive!
What product/service do you offer?
We specialize in residential mortgage loans.
What makes your business unique?
What makes me unique is I treat my clients as though we are in a relationship/friendship, not as a transaction or a paycheck. If what I have to offer isn’t the best for them, I will be completely honest. I won’t put someone in a mortgage just to get paid. I want to be their mortgage specialist for life and someone they feel confident referring their family and friends to.
What is the nicest thing a customer has ever said to you about your products/service?
I recently had a client complete our survey and they said “Lori, we are eternally grateful to have met you.” It’s nice to know you make a difference in someone’s life. I know all of my clients make a difference in mine.
What are three things you use every day in your job?
- Not actual things, but in my job I have to listen, problem solve and provide great customer service.
- If you were looking for actual things then phone, computer, and car.
Tell us about organizations/charities you are passionate about.
Strong Tower Ranch, 5 Acres Animal Shelter, WSCC Chamber, O’Fallon Chamber and last but not least Little Black Book.
When you are not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Hang out with my pups, hang out with family and friends, read, run (not at the moment, but once I get back into it). 🙂 Ann
